So we had bought and planted some lavender in our front garden, having all these dreams of our own lavender stuff (you know, satches to put in drawers, closets, to infuse oil, etc.) and our dreams were savagely threatended by... the friking neighborhood cats!
( Some background info: our house has been used as the public toilet of all the neighborhood cats, and some dogs out in the street, for a long time, and it is a constant battle of wills, but mostly it's just me cleaning their poop. )
Turns out cats don't like the smell of lavender, so some of them purpously scratched and maimed our lavender, to kill it I guess.
But! We also have this bush, I don't know the name of it, that is very thorny, so we put some cutting strategically around the lavender, so the cats couldn't get near it, and it worked! Yaaay for plants!
Now I have collected our first little batch of lavender!
Second step will be to dry it out, then I'll get a carrier oil to infuse it with the lavender, then... success!
