The lavender saga continues...

So we had bought and planted some lavender in our front garden, having all these dreams of our own lavender stuff (you know, satches to put in drawers, closets, to infuse oil, etc.) and our dreams were savagely threatended by... the friking neighborhood cats!
( Some background info: our house has been used as the public toilet of all the neighborhood cats, and some dogs out in the street, for a long time, and it is a constant battle of wills, but mostly it's just me cleaning their poop. )
Turns out cats don't like the smell of lavender, so some of them purpously scratched and maimed our lavender, to kill it I guess.
But! We also have this bush, I don't know the name of it, that is very thorny, so we put some cutting strategically around the lavender, so the cats couldn't get near it, and it worked! Yaaay for plants!
Now I have collected our first little batch of lavender!

Second step will be to dry it out, then I'll get a carrier oil to infuse it with the lavender, then... success!

Lemon marmalade

So I made lemon marmalade for the first time, following a tutorial on youtube (good ol' YT tuts!) by an italian lady called Benedetta. Worked out beautiful, I was afraid it wouldn't jell (I used regular refined sugar, no pectin) but it did and it tastes delicious.

Thank you Benedetta!

DIY prwetty

So I beautified my keys. Just nail polish, but so cute. My dad bought the key chain for me when we went to gay old Paris, lol, pretty standart touristy trinket.

More fruit.

You see, to me almost all the fruit that is sold here in Chile is exotic. My normal tradicional fruits are things like passion fruit, big pineapples, etc., that's life in tropical Venezuela for you.
So I see this HUGE plum, super big, juicy, beautiful color, better aroma, and it strikes me as amazing.

Fruit.

Fresh fruit is the best, the smell of this peach is awesome. I wonder why, with all our scientific advances nowadays, that no one can mimic artificially this smell to be exactly like the real fruit.
I mean, anything artificial "peach scented", to me, smells weird, tinny and sometimes headache-inducing.
Now, excuse while I go to heaven and eat my peach ^___^

DIY wreath

Want a cute christmas decoration but you're on a budget? That was me today, so I decided to make something on my own.
I had an old wire hanger and some gold/red ribbon, so I went to the xmas faire and bought cheap materials:
1 green garland. 300 pesos.
1 tea light (battery operated). 790 pesos.
12 tree decoration balls. 1000 pesos.
Total spent: 2090 pesos = 2.7 euros = 3.4 US dollars.

So all I did was twist the wire hanger into a circular shape, leaving a hook at one end (to hang the wreath), another little hook at the other end (to close the circle), and a loop in the middle fitted to put the tea light in (it had to be tight so the light doesn't fall).
I twisted the garland through the wire in loops and alternated the xmas balls in a way I liked.
I made a sort of decorative knot with the ribbon and knotted it on top.
Done!
